Two area Odyssey of the Mind teams will compete in the World Finals this weekend at College Park, Md., bringing their creativity, innovation and teamwork with them. to raise some of the $9,000 needed to send 14 teams members to the competition, members of the West High School and Central Grade School teams held a car wash and flower sale Saturday at Grand Traverse Auto. City resident Lorraine Hamilton served as one of more than 59,000 nurses in the Army Nurse Corps in World War II. The Cheboygan native trained at the Traverse City State Hospital School of Nursing, where 14 of the 18 students in the class of 1943 went into service. Hamilton served on bases around the United States and also spent 11 months in England at an orthopedic field hospital.

A boy and his big Easter basket are poised for pell-mell egg hunt action at the annual Easter Festival held Saturday at the T-Bays Soccer Fields on Keystone Road. Hundreds of youngsters, divided into three separate age groups, scrambled to pick up plastic eggs containing candy and pieces of paper listing prizes.

Members of Traverse City Central High School’s Model United Nations Team returned from the Mid-American Model United Nations Competition with an overall award for best prepared school as well as ten other awards.
